Bringing down the Fourth Reich

While this post is serious, it started with two silly ideas in my head, just after it was announced by the EU leadership that they can override their own rules by denying the veto right of some members if they do not approve their position on an issue.
This may turn into a historic opportunity for Orbán.

My second realization was a continuation on the logic of my last post, calling the EU the new Comintern. Upon further consideration of the point, and looking at the cover of C.J. Hopkins’ book:

I realized that calling it the Fourth Reich of Germany may be even more appropriate.
Hitler’s dream coming to fruition beyond his wildest dreams!
What’s happening to C.J. Hopkins alone would justify the analogy.
What the Digital Services Act of the EU is doing to X/twitter justifies the analogy.
The EU sanction on Nathalie Yamb and Jacques Baud are justifying it. These two people are exposing beyond any doubt the globalist aspirations of the EU.

What the EU is demanding from Elon Musk is to give them the power to censor the communication of X’s users globally.

Roger Kimball is spot on saying:

“The question is not whether the EU collapses but when”
(in The Spectator’s December 22, 2025 World edition.)

Elon Musk is also correct saying that:

“The EU should be abolished and sovereignty returned to individual countries, so that governments can better represent their people.”

The promise of the EU

Communism sounds very good on paper. So does the EU.
Just read the description of Grok! Nauseatingly aspirational.

Access to single market, structural inequality reduction, common currency, peace and harmony, freedom of movement, global influence for the small players, consumer and environmental protection, etc., etc. Lofty ideas, virtue signaling and good intentions.
Reality cannot possibly live up to them.

The reality of the Fourth Reich

The EU is stagnant. The causes are systemic and the problems are self inflicted.
The anemic growth of the economy, the accelerating growth of debt and unfunded liabilities, the slow-down of productivity growth, the energy crises, mass immigration are all caused by the EU’s policies.

The single market
As I pointed out quite a while back in The triple-U of free trade, free trade agreements are just systems of harmonized regulations and subsidies. The point is to eliminate the possibility of lower priced competition across the market.
Protecting your producers from competition makes them lose their ability to compete. The European economy is deindustrializing on a trajectory that seems unstoppable.
The Chinese are eating their lunch, so to speak.

The structural adjustment programs sounded nice, until you realize that they were mostly window-dressing and social engineering projects to bribe and manipulate the population into compliance with the globalist agendas.

Hungary, for example, got truckloads of money the start planting vineyards. The result today is a gross overproduction of wine that the growers have difficulties selling abroad.
All the while they were destroying local businesses to be replaced by global mega-corporations. 50-80% of the food production in the former communist countries are in the hands of global corporations today.

The Euro helped the strongest economies at the cost of the weaker ones. Germany benefitted the most from it. Smaller economies like Greece, are the losers, as they cannot devalue their currency to compensate for their lower productivity. You cannot have a sound fiscal policy without control over your monetary policy.

The freedom of movement also sounds wonderful until you realize that it was mostly a brain-drain benefiting the leading economies in Europe.

The Environmental protection efforts of the EU turned into an energy and therefore economic suicide. Germany is deindustrializing and it is doubtful that it can recover from the recession it is heading into.

Uncontrolled immigration to compensate for declining birth rates did not do much for “Peace, Stability or Democracy”. Quite the opposite. It increased crime, destroyed social cohesion and made political divisions not seen since the Third Reich.

Everything the EU is doing today is a desperate attempt to keep the racket going. Expanding the EU, starting a war, doubling down on immigration, censoring all opposition, banning political parties, cancelling and overturning elections are not the signs of a confident organization championing democracy and its principles.

C.J. Hopkins uses the expression GloboCap (global capitalism) to describe the forces that stood behind the EU expansion. For the global capitalists, it was much easier to deal with one entity than a bunch of sovereign countries. The EU regulations made it nearly impossible for small businesses to compete with the global juggernauts.

The EU aspirations sound amazing and the harm is difficult to see. If it was put to a vote, most people in every EU country would vote to stay in the EU. The EU will not end with a vote, but with an economic collapse. It is just unsustainable, unsavable and unreformable. Expansions, the mass migration and even starting a war will not save it.

The European commission is irredeemably corrupt and authoritarian. They are in the process of turning the union into a totalitarian dictatorship, contravening their own laws.

And, finally, here comes my point: the EU has no future. Every one of its members has to face the prisoner’s dilemma: will they bail and deal with the consequences of temporary hardship; or go down with the ship and face much harsher consequences?

If I were to advise Orbán, I would suggest to him to put his foot down and demand the reinstatement of his voting rights regarding the permanent freeze of the Russian assets by the EU. I would frame it as an attack of Hungary’s sovereignty and an attack of EU democracy and its well articulated rules. At the same time, I would formally, and very publicly, apply for a membership in the BRICS. If the EU raises any objection, I would challenge them kick Hungary out of the EU.

That would drive the commission berserk, as kicking Hungary out would start a domino effect ending in the collapse of the whole edifice.

Orbán would go down in history as the initiator of the most consequential political event so far in this century. It wild signify the end of the unipolar world that came into existence after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Let me finish with saying what I never, ever said in my life before: it would make me feel proud to be Hungarian….. But maybe, it would be just schadenfreude.

I met Orbán once. He was already the party leader but not yet elected. He was a promise, the upcoming opposition. He was on a tour in North America, talking to the Hungarian diaspora. He had a speech at the University of Toronto. A friend dragged me there. I was not impressed. I am generally not impressed by politicians. I found him a little too arrogant. With time, I warmed up to him a bit, but my feelings are still ambivalent. At this point, I consider him the best chance Hungary has for a soft landing when the EU hits the fan.
When I tried to find a link to a bio of Jacques Baud, I could not find any without venomous bias. The Wikipedia entry on him is pathetic. He has so many speeches and interviews that I couldn’t pick any particular one as truly representative.
Seek, and ye shall find.
After I finished the post, I listened to Alexander Mercouris talking about the subject in the first 20 minutes segment of this Youtube video.
He is comparing the Soviet criminal code article to the justification presented by Kaja Kalass to sanction Jacques Baud. It made me realize, that they are the closest translation of the Hungarian criminal code article under which I was sentenced to a year in a maximum-security jail. You can read about it here.
It also makes me wonder: am I in danger again? Am I spreading Russian propaganda?
Could I be censured as a Canadian citizen? How about as an EU citizen?
