I am no Cassandra; I am not blessed with the power of prophecy. I cannot foretell the genuinely unknown. All I have is the power of deduction and a grasp of reality. Yet, I often feel that my curse is even worse than Cassandra’s, as I am not believed even when I am stating established facts or appealing to simple logic.
More often than not, I am not believed even when I’m only stating the obvious.
I am, indeed, the Cassandra of the obvious.
Most of what I know is just as knowable to others as they are to me.
Left or right, reality is the same for us all. What’s different is our perception of it.
In the culture war, not even proven facts are accepted as such.
The world-view of the left is built on narratives.
Stating facts is useless. Showing evidence is pointless. Appealing to logic and common sense is perceived as an assault on their good intentions.
The pattern is always the same:
Start with a lofty goal, a grand design of moralising absolutism, the less attainable the better.
Mock, ridicule and demonize any opposition to it.
Denigrate critics, no matter how well intentioned or well reasoned they are.
Create a clear divide between the righteous smart people and primitive deplorables.
When problems with the righteous idea start to appear, do two things: deny the existence of the problem and the same time, blame the problem on the detractors of the goal, arguing that if they were fully supportive of it, the problems would not exist. The problem is never the design, but the lack of support.
When the problem can no longer be denied, drop it, pretend that you had nothing to do with it.
Repackage the idea with the classic argument on socialism, which never failed because it has never been really tried. Not in the proper way, anyway.
No fact can change a leftist mind and no amount of harm will make them reconsider their position.
The left NEVER accepts responsibility for the harm their ideas and policies cause.
The war on Russia in Ukraine cannot be won
This was obvious from even before it started. Even Barack Obama knew it.
Obama’s theory here is simple: Ukraine is a core Russian interest but not an American one, so Russia will always be able to maintain escalatory dominance there.
“The fact is that Ukraine, which is a non-NATO country, is going to be vulnerable to military domination by Russia no matter what we do,” he said.
The war in Ukraine was planned, provoked, instigated and financed by the United States. Its final goal has always been to destroy Russia so that global corporations can take control of their natural resources.
This has never been a secret. Russia cannot afford to lose this war and it warned about red lines many times. Its restrain in dealing with provocations was perceived as weakness. Until the war started.
It is an incredible waste of human lives and resources. It could have been easily prevented by a few minor concessions.
Yet, every leftist I know is still in full support of it. To the last Ukrainian solder.
I always saw it, they still don’t.
A man cannot be turned into a woman
No amount of mutilation and plastic surgery can make it happen.
We simply cannot change biological realities.
Gender transition is a conceptual impossibility.
This insanity has been so badly overplayed that it is now collapsing under its own weight, leaving devastation in its wake.
Yet, every leftist I know is in full support of it. All the way to our species extinction.
I always saw it, they still don’t.
CO2 is not controlling the climate
It is an insignificant contributor to warming, which is not a bad thing to begin with. The planet is greening while the green policies are destroying the biggest European economies. The cost is enormous, the ‘benefit’ is negative. The focus on CO2 and warming makes us neglect far more important environmental problems.
Yet, every leftist I know is in full support of it.
I always saw it, they still don’t.
Overpopulation is a Canard
The real problem we have is the opposite, but this delusion is difficult to separate from the Climate Crisis narrative. If humans are responsible for the climate, then overpopulation must be part of the problem as well. The Western world is facing a serious depopulation crisis. There is no European country with above replacement birth rate.
Yet, every leftist I know is still running with the narrative and behaving accordingly.
I can’t say that I always saw it, but the left is definitely still doesn’t.
I cannot leave out this detour:
When I wrote down the heading above, I decided to check the etymology of the word ‘canard’. This is what I got as an example:
Debunking Myths: “The idea that vaccines cause autism is a long-debunked canard.” (Refers to persistent misinformation.)
…so let’s continue with that particular ‘canard’
Vaccines can cause autism
The evidence by now is truly overwhelming. Hundreds of books and scientific studies have been published on the subject. What’s in the other side? Mostly paid-for propaganda. We don’t only have the statistic but a detailed biological understanding of how it is happening. The harm caused is enormous. There is evidence that vaccine manufacturers falsified safety records, covered up the dangers that they were fully aware of.
Yet, every leftist I know is in full support of the ever expanding and compulsory vaccination schedule.
Again, I can’t say that I always saw it, but the left is definitely still doesn’t.
Just mentioning it evoke vehement emotions.
COVID was a war-crime, the covid vaccines were crimes against humanity
What is interesting about this is how I saw through it from the very beginning. Feel free to check out my posts in 2020.
Neither is the harm a question any more. There are congressional hearings about both the Covid virus and the Covid vaccine scams. Hundreds of peer-reviewed studies have been published on both showing the genocide level harm they caused. Some countries still did not recover from the harm caused by the Covid response policies.
Yet, all the leftist I know are still vehemently defending them.
I always saw it, they still don’t.
Uncontrolled immigration will never solve the problems that ail Western societies
I am an immigrant myself and have no conceptual problem with immigration, but I understand more then most that it is not a panacea.
For the left, it is an ideological issue. It is the delusion that all cultures are essentially the same. Uncontrolled immigration is tearing the Western European countries apart.
One cannot solve the welfare insolvency problem by importing more welfare recipients. Or social security with imported tax-slaves.
Yet, all the leftist I know are still vehemently defending them.
I always saw it, they still don’t.
Feminism did more harm than good to women and society
This is a hard one, deserving a full treatment on its own, but still the same rules apply.
Serious, possibly irreparable harm done by a blindly ideological drive in denial of human nature. The most important aspect of it is that women are not happier that their mothers were. But there is no reflection, no serious thinking about it. As a movement, feminism is getting more bold and more radical.
Yet, all the leftist I know are in willful denial of the problem.
I always saw it, they still don’t.
None of this makes me Cassandra, but they all make me feel her maddening desperation.
A few days ago I was talking to my little sister, who was visiting her doctor friend when I called, the one “…. who wished that she could smash the face of the unvaccinated with a coal-shovel to knock some sense into them. .” (From Dear friend)
I really, really wanted to ask what her doctor friend thinks now, but I did not want to ruin her day, and I am quite certain that the good doctor didn’t change her position. When I eventually asked, she left me speechless, as usual, with her complete denial. Millions killed by Covid, the vaccine and in the Ukraine war and no self reflection.
I don’t think there was any in Troy. Cassandra was raped by Ajax, enslaved to Agamemnon and eventually killed by Clytemnestra.
She foresaw it all.
