About AI: I made the mistake the other day of commenting to my husband that "AI got it wrong," after the AI answer I received on some topic was very incorrect.
My husband responded, AI is a tool--the people inputting into it got it wrong.
And of course that is correct. It is comparable to blaming a gun for shooting someone. Or blaming a car for hitting someone.
We are being constantly introduced to AI as an entity and it is designed to appear that way--talking, speaking, responding to us. This is especially dangerous for our children, who will easily be indoctrinated to think of AI as its own entity and lose the ability to question the veracity of AI's data.
Thanks for continue to share your ideas, Zork-- and congratulations on your writing achievement. ~ Ginger Breggin
It is the transhumanists who want, or want us to think, that connecting to AI will make us superhuman.....and that belief, in turn ushers in all the intrusive biosensors, biological interlinking with what is basically machinery run by other humans, and increasing tolerance for manipulating (and probably damaging in the process) the biology of human beings. When Bill Gates and all the biggest globalists of Silicon Valley, plus the likes of Yuval Harari, want "AI" we need to proceed with great deliberation and extreme caution, especially regarding introduction of AI as "your friend who helps you with homework" to children. Unfortunately, that is not happening. ~ Ginger Breggin
Thank you for us know ur efforts. I really appreaciate your enormous time and mental investment to keep us people informed.
You're doing a great job while the mass media is trying to keep us stupid, ignorant and down a false road. Writing is demanding a lot of energy, something i know from my own experience after writing a memory of my own experiences in this world of us over the past 20 odd years.
You spent nights thinking about themes, research during nights and sit at your computer during days.
No time for exercise, going to restaurants and parties but one thing you must do: Spend the early morning hour at your streetside cafe and simply watch people. There is a treasure trove passing right in front of your eyes. I bought a small camera just to capture these moments, afraid i would forget them.
AI ... yes, i spent time on that, too. If there ever was a truly AI like HAL 9000 in 2001 Space Odyssey Film in which no Human sits at the end and pulling the strings i would go for it. We have proven beyond any doubt that we're incapable to keep the Planet and all Life on it alive.
Your point: " I have the feeling that that my talking about it makes people uncomfortable." is well known to me, too. You mention any subject that makes people uncomfortable they will see you as disturbing them in their Comfort Zone which they want to avoid under any circumstances.

Your writing remains relevant on so many levels Zork. Reflecting on those those quiet moments of introspection, in the realm of reality, where you cannot have authority without responsibility, and inversely, you cannot be held accountable where you had no authority other than in violating the penal codes of social responsibility and duties. Judge :David-Wynn :Miller said something in his "Law Claims Course" that for every question being ask, there are 20 that are not asked". Are you like Neo, in the Matrix, and Trinity telling him, "It is the question that drives you". Indeed, if we are not under the constant barrage of errant narratives,, those sleight reprieves allows one to answer with more clarity issues that were not apparent that those times when place on the defensive of those ahh so wiley accusers. There was a wise man who said "Seek and ye shall find" and that quest to know keeps us going in cogitations of untangling many mimicked nomenclatures that have the specious affect of seeming right, but are actually wrong. Although money (or it's semblance) is neither good or evil, it is the Love of Money that pursues every folly under the sun.
I know that I have been so badly discounted by those lovers of money that I can barely afford to pay attention anymore, and there are substacks that I may agree in part with that I would comment on, but cannot because they have gone behind a paywall. At least you've been kind and courteous to allow at least one poor beggar to offer an opinion, and I am grateful for the opportunity. Although there are so many critical issues that remain unaddressed, time has a way of catching up to them. I enjoy reading the thoughts that sometimes inspire me to connect more dots than just my own limited experiences. Thank you, and perhaps, if God wills, I will not always be condemned to abject poverty, counting my pennies to see if I can get my daily Ramen.

you left out the other aspect of writing: you get a question/idea, start researching, start writing, more research, more writing and when you read the post it is boring as all getout and it goes into the trashcan of oblivion!!! SCRATCH!
It is almost normal, that as I am writing the post takes a direction of its own, to the point hat I even have to change its title. l drop maybe 10% of my posts in the middle if it does not come together the way I expect.

This is indeed interesting.
Two minutes after I posted this, I came across this link from a friend's post:
https://www.thefp.com/p/ai-will-change-what-it-is-to-be-human
Naturally, I will not purchase a paid subscription to a publication that is so patently stupid in its first few paragraphs.
We, You and I share the concern about the real danger......

Even on the map, I am moving from right to left 😉

What you describe happen maybe half that rate.
