Behind (well, in front of, really) every conspiracy theory are a bunch of little lies that make the conspiracy seem plausible. It's not that stupid people believe things like "vaccines cause autism," it's that vaccine-makers tend to be the same companies that manufacture and sell addictive painkillers or weight loss drugs that cause heart valve damage. It's not that the 9/11 truther is a maniac, it's that the US government has repeatedly lied us into wars around the world, including Vietnam.
