I don’t think Hariri’s evil is the result of his postmodernist philosophies but rather his belief in the power of intellectualism and his, and his WEF cohorts, arrogance.

The tribalism you describe is congruent with postmodernism and not the result of people departing from recognizing the “truth”.

I’d be pleased to debate this with you over a glass of wine.

That is a very interesting distinction, definitely worth a debate. I would argue that the relativism in postmodernism IS, actually, a form of arrogance. "Who is to be master"

Zork,

I recently found your substack and, of course, I had a testy exchange with Gene Balfour, perhaps you remember. I have gone back to some of your earlier posts and the first to catch my eye was the huckster, Harari. Your post was very entertaining and a pleasant read. You make some very good points in a way that is witty and accurate. This huckster, like Klaus Schwab are selling bull shit. Harari, the huckster writes, “Telling effective stories is not easy. The difficulty lies not in telling the story, but in convincing everyone else to believe it. Much of history revolves around this question: how does one convince millions of people to believe particular stories about gods, or nations, or limited liability companies?"

He puts his intentions up front, he is attempting to con the world with bull shit and fear and suggesting he and his followers will be the masters. In other sound bites I've heard him refer to his cronies as gods. You are right bullshitting is much easier than selling this crap to critical thinkers.

Brilliant piece! My favorite: »Does gynecology have a solution for climate change? Does the lack of a gynecological solution to climate change make gynecologists climate change deniers?«

Harari is indeed, as the previous commenter noted, an arrogant nutcase—unfortunately also a very dangerous one. Here's how I saw him in 2021: https://tinyurl.com/33sfm23p

A quote I found from @Matt Taibbi today:

"The loss of capacity for memory or real experience is what makes people susceptible to the work of cartoon pseudo-intellectuals like Yuval Noah Harari, who seem really to think nothing good or interesting happened until last week. The profound negativity of these WEF-style technocrats about all human experience until now reminds me of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, whose dystopian characters feared books because “They show the pores of the face of life.”"
