The World Economic Lunacy

What are they smoking???

This word-cloud picture above was used to convey the complexity of the world around us that WEF is prepared to manage for us before it got replaced by the more seductive radial diagrams I was mocking in The World Economic Word salad. It makes even less sense than the new version. A word-cloud is supposed to show the relative frequency of words in a given body of text. What you see above, is unlikely to be an actual word-cloud of some real data somewhere, it is just random, manipulative, virtue signaling nonsense.

The world-view

It has been decades ago when I first read an article penned by George Soros. It was printed in The Atlantic Monthly, which I was subscribing to at the time. I can’t even remember what it was about, only that I was stunned by its dilettante mediocrity. It was far below even the standards of The Atlantic.
Soros may have been a student of Popper, but he clearly did not understand him, as evidenced by his Machiavellian schemes and scams. Soros is just a lucky street-smart sociopath hustler who made it big. He is no deep thinker, but neither is Klaus Schwab. Nor Charles, the attention starved King of insecurity seeking relevance.

As I look at the people of the WEF, I see a few basic groups: the attention seekers, the opportunists, the propagandists, the court clowns, the puppets and those who are just petrified of being left out of what could be the future. I do not see ideologues as there is no real ideology.

Marx was wrong just about everything he ever said, but at least he had an easy-to-understand concept:
The greedy capitalists exploit the powerless proletariat;
Proletarian class consciousness will lead to revolution
The proletariat will bring in heaven on earth, called communism.
Lenin’s correction:
The proletariat will need an enlightened ‘vanguard elite’ (the communist party) to show the way.   

Neither idea worked too well, so the wannabe totalitarians had to come up with new idea:
How to turn the most powerful greedy capitalists into the vanguard elite, allow them to exploit the working class not only as workers but as consumers as well and with the art of propaganda, doublespeak, woke narratives and some techno-manipulation and coercion, convince them that owning nothing will be a glorious victory. The WEF is trying to sell this to the brainwashed and demoralized masses.

The WEF idea for the public is a rehash of the communist goal mixed with some dreamy utopianism.
Since “The enemy of being is having”(Marx) we will own nothing and we will be happy, technology will do all the work for us, we will explore the cosmos, we will become enhanced by genetics and technology to become superhumans who will live much longer on our Universal Basic Income in a ginormous global village without worries and responsibilities; a world where all of our differences will disappear, where we will all live the same, think the same but with lots of mutual respect and kumbaya. And, of course, we will still be unique and special, just like everybody else.
The public future is a happy utopia for the sheeple.

The unspoken agenda, reserved for “Vee, Zee people in zis wroom” is quite different.
It suggests a neo-feudal, technocratic ruling class that owns and controls everything, while the homogenized, undifferentiated plebs own nothing and are happy about it. The Hunger Games with a happy face on a mostly empty planet.
The unspoken agenda is centrally managed total control.

It is entirely possible (and as some suggest), that there are some evil, nefarious forces still behind of what we see or can deduce. I’d say it does not matter whether we see the slave-masters or just their foremen. Slavery is slavery and serfdom is serfdom, whoever the actual masters are.

The public message is ridden with confusion and contradictions, the unspoken agenda is bad, but what is most concerning is the suicidal stupidity of both. The positive, optimistic version is unfeasible while the unspoken agenda is self-destructive.

The threat to our humanity

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are not just impossible goals, but very dangerous ideas.
Every one of the expressions is a con, driving us toward the opposite of its idealized aim.

The way it is used, diversity is only concerned about our immutable characteristics such as race, gender, cultural background etc., but none of the things we can control, such as our morals, our world-views, our abilities and attitudes, our political opinions, intelligence, industriousness, etc.
Nothing that is the results of our conscious decisions and choices.
Nothing that is the content of our character.
Diversity means that while we may look different, we must behave strictly within the boundaries of this new, artificial framework of the human herd.  Diversity is overt racism.

Equity gained it present meaning fairly recently, to mean equal outcome as opposed to equality, which historically meant equal opportunity.

“From the fact that people are very different it follows that, if we treat them equally, the result must be inequality in their actual position, and that the only way to place them in an equal position would be to treat them differently. Equality before the law and material equality are therefore not only different but are in conflict with each other; and we can achieve either one or the other, but not both at the same time”

Friedrich Hayek (in The Constitution Of Liberty)

I have yet to see a meaningful criticism of Hayek’s point. Equity is yet another point of denying our humanity. It is our differences that make us human. These differences should be celebrated, not supressed. Equity is coerced equality and conformity. 

Inclusion is just another WEF confusion. It is about feelings, about making people feel included and appreciated; making the stupid feel smart and the ugly beautiful, just so that they don’t feel judged and excluded. It is about giving equal weight to every idea and attitude just to show how virtuous we are.

When the enlightenment formulated its ideas into the revolutionary slogan “Liberté, égalité, fraternité”, they meant the humanist concepts of individual freedom, equality in front of the law and the freedom of association. Our ability to think for ourselves, to make judgements and act on them is what makes us humans. Not the color of our skin, the opinions of the community or the feelings of others. By eschewing natural and competence hierarchies, by discouraging shared interest and ability bases associations,
‘inclusion’ creates alienation.
Individualism means that you are unique amongst your peers. Alienations means that you are alone and undistinguished in the crowd. It is our very humanity that Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are trying to destroy. Of course they will not succeed, but they can do enormous harm trying.  

But let’s suppose for a second, that it is possible.
We have to assume that the people promoting it hope to gain something from it. Let’s suppose that they find the world of the hunger game desirable.
Would it work? Would it be good for them? Could it be good for us? Is it possible to create a never changing society? I doubt it.
There is no equilibrium. We, meaning people, economy and knowledge, are either growing, or shrinking.
The WEF is betting on the desirability of shrinking.

The value in numbers

For a period in my life, I did buy into the overpopulation concern, but nearly two decades ago I had an epiphany. The cousin of a friend met someone on-line. It was love at first text. She lived in Hungary, he was doing his PhD in Ohio, then his post-doctorate work in Toronto. He was a string theorist working on the Grand Unified Theory. My wife and I were the witnesses to their civil marriage here. The excuse for our first trip to India was to attend their proper Indian wedding that his family insisted on. He was from a perfectly ordinary background, with nothing to suggest exceptional abilities. Then it hit me:
Genius is a numbers game. Creativity is a numbers game. Exceptional performance in any field is a numbers game. The likelihood of outliers is directly proportional with the population size from which the exceptions emerge. 

I just came across an argument a few days ago suggesting that America has nothing to fear, because it still leads in inventions and patents filed. On the top of it, the US average IQ is 20 points higher than the Indian.

Now let’s suppose, that it takes one million Hungarians (pop. 10M) to ‘produce’ one with an IQ of 200 while from the 20 points lower average Indian pool (pop. 1.4B), it takes 10 million to ‘produce’ one.
With this wildly condescending assumption, we will still end up with 14 Indians with 200 IQ for every Hungarian with the same ability.

If we cut the population of the planet down to half a billion, which Bill Gates considers a desirable figure, our collective intelligence will suffer greatly. By eliminating 94% of the planet’s population, we will eliminate 94% of its potential saviours as well.  We will never have a one in a billion genius. Fewer people exchanging ideas will mean fewer ideas being exchanged. Fewer invention, fewer discoveries, fewer new scientific theories. Fewer ideas on how to solve global problems.

Progress and evolution happen on the margin. Creativity happens on the margin. Change always starts on the margin, but what we are missing out on, is the least of our problems.
The real problem is declining quality, as true ‘equity’ can only happen at the level of the lowest common denominator.
LLMs by their very nature aim for mediocrity. They already clearly demonstrate the problem, that aiming for the middle will result in declining quality.

The problem with communism, socialism and the ‘vision’ of the World Economic Forum is that they are death-cults. The seeds of their self destruction are built into their foundational concepts.

An advanced technological economy requires as large number of creative, independent thinkers in strong and highly respected competence hierarchies. Advanced economies cannot exist without entrepreneurial freedom and strong competition. They need distributed, NOT centralized decision making.
They need honest and vigorous debates of ANY subject, but especially science.
Global consensus is a dangerous nonsense. It is not possible and should not be sought.

It makes me feel embarrassed that this needs to be said. It should be obvious to everybody.
Just like the fact that the emperor is naked.
On the other hand, for a normal person with some common sense, the emperor is ALWAYS naked.
There is a growing recognition of the problems with the WEF’s propaganda. Interest in their hopelessly boring meetings is slowly waning. There is a slow disillusionment in their ideas. There is a chance that the whole institution will fade into irrelevance. I hope…….
